Is Art
Countdown Collection 1826 - 2026
One hour of runway for the two hundred years of Stamperia Pascucci. Thirty-eight looks, one evening, a whole town seated along the runway.
Stamperia Pascucci has printed with rust since 1826: seven generations, an archive of hand-carved wooden blocks, colour recipes never written down. For the two hundredth year Christine Joan did not copy that heritage. She regenerated it, starting from the cloths nobody looked at.

Thirty-eight looks
Every garment is printed by hand, one at a time. Sizes follow the original pattern: if yours is missing, the garment is cut to measure. Price on request, three weeks to deliver.

Where the cloth comes from
What was lying
under the print
The block
A pear-wood block carved by hand, often older than the person using it. The Pascucci archive holds hundreds.
The colour
The rust is mixed to a family recipe never written down. Its tone shifts with the humidity of the day.
The strike
The block is struck with a mallet. Every strike leaves a different mark: no two garments come out the same.
The underlayer
Under every printed cloth lies another one, the one that soaks up the excess colour. In the workshop it is worth nothing. Christine chose those, and the sections that were never printed.
The cut
That cloth is cut on contemporary patterns: unstructured jackets, wide trousers, pinafore dresses. No two garments come out alike, because no two waste cloths are alike.
Once only
The two hundredth year of a workshop happens once
Episode 1 cannot be repeated: it was made for a date that does not come back. The garments stay thirty-eight, as many as the runway saw.
The place
Gambettola,
the Enchanted Wood
For one night the town centre became an enchanted wood: Pascucci prints hung on the facades, the town hall lit, the runway down the main street. Supported by Regione Emilia-Romagna and the Comune di Gambettola.
Stilt dancers, fire, bubbles, a marching band, spoken-word theatre, itinerant music: three points of the town played all evening. Riminiwood brought the runway, one hour inside a programme that lasted a night.
The runway was conceived, directed, produced and paid for by Christine Joan Johnson. A gift to the workshop on the most important day of its two hundred years.
